日常생활에 智慧와 믿음을 주시는 말씀 - 76

”The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the

mouth of the wicked.“(잠10:11)

  ”의로운 사람의 입은 생명의 샘이지만, 악한 사람의 입에서는 폭력이 넘쳐난다.“

 

76번째, 마태복음 13장6절부터 시작합니다

6.But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered

because they had no root.

the sun came up:

해가 떠올랐을 때. (come up: 떠오르다)

were scorched:

수동과거형, 타버렸다, 말라버렸다.

(scorch :그을리다, 태우다)

they withered:

그것들이 시들었다 (wither: 시들다, 말라죽다)

scorche: 그을리다, 태우다

Ex: The hot sun scorched the desert ground.

      뜨거운 태양이 사막 땅을 그을렸다

withered: 시든, 말라버린

Ex: The withered flowers lay forgotten in the vase.

      시든 꽃들이 꽃병 속에 잊힌 채 놓여 있었다

그러나 해가 떠오르자 그 싹들이 타버렸고, 뿌리가 없었기 때문에 시들어버렸다.

 

해설:

뿌리가 없는 식물 = 신앙이나 가치관이 깊지 않은 사람

햇볕에 시듦 = 어려움이나 시험이 닥쳤을 때 쉽게 무너짐

즉, 깊은 뿌리(내적 힘, 믿음, 확고한 기반)가 없으면 외부 환경(시련, 압박)에 의해 쉽게

흔들린다는 교훈의 말씀이다.

 

7.Other seed fell among thorns(θɔːrn), which grew up and choked the plants.

Other seed:

다른 씨앗들

among thorns:

가시덤불 사이에

grew up:

자라났다.

and choked:

그리고 질식시켰다,막았다.

choke:숨 막히게 하다, 막다

Ex: Weeds can choke the growth of young plants.

      잡초는 어린 식물의 성장을 막을 수 있다.

다른 씨앗은 가시덤불 사이에 떨어졌는데, 그 가시덤불이 자라서 싹들을 막아버렸다.

 

해설:

씨앗 = 말씀, 좋은 시작

가시덤불 = 세속적 욕망, 근심, 물질적 집착

식물이 자라지 못함 = 말씀을 받아들였지만 세상적인 것들에 막혀 열매를 맺지 못하는 상

태 즉, 좋은 씨앗(말씀이나 가치관)이 뿌려져도, 마음속에 욕심과 걱정이 많으면 그것들이

자라나는 것을 방해하여 결국 열매를 맺지 못한다는 경고의 말씀이다. 

 

8.Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a  crop--a hundred, sixty or

thirty times what was sown.

Still other seed:

또 다른 씨앗들

on good soil:

좋은 땅에

it produced:

그것이 생산되었다.

a hundred, sixty or thirty times:

백 배, 육십 배, 삼십 배.

what was sown:

뿌려진 것

또 다른 씨앗은 좋은 땅에 떨어져서, 뿌려진 것의 백 배, 육십배, 삼십 배의 결실을 맺었다.

 

”a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.“

 

아래와같이도 표현이 가능함

“Yielded a hundredfold”:

백 배의 결실을 맺었다.

 

“Returned thirty, sixty, or a hundred times over”:

투자나 노력의 결과가 몇 배로 돌아왔다는 의미.

 

“Produced fruit thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold”:

결실을 맺는다는 점을 강조하는 문학적 표현.

 

“Multiplied thirty, sixty, or a hundred times”:

단순히 수학적 배수를 강조하는 직설적 표현.

 

“Reaped thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold”:

거둬들이다라는 농업적 뉘앙스를 살린 표현.

 

“Returned manifold—thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold”:

manifold(다양하게, 여러 배로)라는 단어를 써서 풍성함을 강조.

 

9.He who has ears, let him hear.

귀 있는 자는 들으라.

 

해설:

“귀가 있으면 들어라”라는것은 문자 그대로의 말이 아니라, 영적 깨달음을 받아들이라는

의미로서:

귀 = 이해하고 받아들일 수 있는 능력

듣다 = 단순 청취가 아니라 마음으로 받아들이고 실천하는 것

 

10.The disciples came to him and asked, "Why do you speak to the people in

parables?

제자들이 예수께 나아와 물었다. ‘왜 사람들에게 비유로 말씀하십니까 ?
