" Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."

shun: 피하다, 회피

nourishment: 자양분, 영양

             스스로 지혜롭다고 여기지 말고, 주님을 경외하며 악을 멀리하여라

    그러면 이것이 너의 몸에 보약이 되어, 상처가 낫고 아픔이 사라질 것이다(잠3:7-8)

1)27:1

When it was decided that we would sail for Italy, Paul and some other

prisoners were handed over to a centurion named Julius, who belonged

to the Imperial Regiment.

 

이탈리아로 항해하기로 결정되었을 때, 바울과 다른 몇몇 죄수들은 황제의 부대

에 속한 백부장 율리오에게 넘겨졌다.

 

2)27:2

We boarded a ship from Adramyttium about to sail for ports along the coast

of the province of Asia, and we put out to sea. Aristarchus, a Macedonian from

Thessalonica, was with us.

 

우리는 아드라미티움에서 출발하는 배에 탑승하여 아시아 지방의 해안도시들을 향해

항해를 시작했다. 테살로니카 출신의 마케도니아 사람 아리스타르쿠스도 우리와 함께

있었다.

 

3)27:12

Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided that we should

sail on, hoping to reach Phoenix and winter there. This was a harbor in Crete,

facing both southwest and northwest.

 

항구가 겨울을 나기에 적합하지 않아서, 대다수는 우리가 계속 항해 헤 피닉스로 가서

그곳에서 겨울을 나기로 결정했다. 이곳은 남서쪽 과북서쪽을 향한 크레타 섬에 있는

항구였다.

 

4)27:17

When the men had hoisted it aboard, they passed ropes under the ship itself to

hold it together. Fearing that they would run aground on the sandbars of Syrtis,

they lowered the sea anchor and let the ship be driven along.

hoist:

밧줄을 당기다

aground:

지상에,좌초되어.

sandbar:

(조류 때문에 형성된) 모래톱

 

그들이 배에 짐을 올리자, 배 자체에 밧줄을 통과시켜 배를 단단히 묶었으며  시르티스

모래톱에 좌초할 것을 두려워하여, 그들은 해 상 닻을 내리고 배가 물결을 따라 흘러가게

놔두었다.

 

5)27:21

After the men had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and

said: "Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would

have spared yourselves this damage and loss.

 

사람들이 오랫동안 음식을 먹지 못한 후, 바울이 그들 앞에 서서 말하길,여러분, 내 말을

듣고  크레타에서 항해하지 말았어야 했습니다.그러면 이 손해와 피해를 피할 수 있었을

것입니다.

 

6)27:22

But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost;

only the ship will be destroyed

 

그러나 이제 나는 여러분에게 용기를 내라고 권합니다. 여러분 중  한 사람도 잃지 않을

것입니다; 오직 배만 파손될 것입니다.

 

7)27:30

In an attempt to escape from the ship, the sailors let the lifeboat down into the

sea, pretending they were going to lower some anchors from the bow.

 

배에서 탈출하려는 시도로, 선원들은 배의 앞부분에서 닻을 내리는척하며 구명보트를

바다로 내렸다.

 

8)27:31

Then Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, "Unless these men stay with

the ship, you cannot be saved.

 

바울이 백부장과 군인들에게 말했다, '이 사람들이 배에 남아있지 않으면 여러분은

구원받을 수 없습니다.

 

9)27:40

Cutting loose the anchors, they left them in the sea and at the same time untied

the ropes that held the rudders. Then they hoisted the foresail to the wind and

made for the beach.

 

닻을 끊고 바다에 남겨둔 채로, 동시에 키를 고정하던 밧줄을 풀었 다. 그리고 나서 앞돛

을 올리고 해변을 향해 나아갔다.

 

10)27:43

But the centurion wanted to spare Paul's life and kept them from carrying out their

plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land.

 

그러나 백부장은 바울의 생명을 구하기를 원하여 그들의 계획을 실행하지 못하게 막았으며

 그는 수영할 수 있는 사람들에게 먼저 물에 뛰어들어 육지로 가라고 명령했습니다.

(군인들은 죄수들이 탈출할 것을 우려하여 모두 죽이기로 계획했을 때 백부장은 바울의 생명을 구해 주기

위하여 그들의 계획을 막았다)
