"Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man's friend deserts him."

재물은 많은 친구를 더하게 하나 가난한 자는 그의 친구에게서 떠나느니라.(잠 19:4)

 

                  英語聖經을 쉽게 解釋, 解說 합니다.                                  

                  사도행전 15장 1절부터 시작합니다. 

 

1.Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were  teaching the

brothers: "Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by

Moses, you cannot be saved. “

Unless you are circumcised:

할레를 받지 않는 한.

the custom taught:

가르친 관습

 

유대에서 내려온 몇몇 사람이 안디옥에 이르러 형제들에게 가르치기를, '모세가

전한 관례대로 할례를 받지 않으면 구원을 받을 수 없다'고 하였다."

 

2.This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them.

So Paul  and Barnabas were appointed, along with  some other believers,

to go up to Jerusalem to see the  apostles and elders about this question.

sharp dispute:

첨예한 논쟁

debate with them:

그들과 토론했다.

be appointed:

임명, 지명되었다.

along with some other believers:

다른 신자들과 함께

 

이 문제로 바울과 바나바는 그들과 심한 논쟁을 하게 되었다. 그래서 안디옥 교회

는 바울과 바나바와 다른 몇몇 신자들을 예루살렘에 있는 사도들과 장로들에게

보내 이 문제를 어떻게 해야할지를 물어 보도록 하였다.

 

3.The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled  through

Phoenicia  and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles  had been converted.

This news made all the brothers very glad.

on their way:

가는 길에

Ex: They met an old friend on their way to the market.

     그들은 시장으로 가는 길에 옛 친구를 만났다.

Ex: On their way home, they decided to stop by the park.

      집으로 가는 도중에 그들은 공원에 들르기로 했다.

 

교회는 그들을 보내어, 페니키아와 사마리아에 들려서 가며 이방인들이 어떻게

개종을 했는지를 말해 주었으며 이 소식은 모든 형제들을 매우 기쁘게 하였다

 

해설:

이들은 이동하면서 이방인의 개종 소식을 전했다. 이방인이란 유대인이 아닌 사람

들을 지칭하는 말로써 기독교 신앙으로 개종한 사람들을 가리킨다.이방인들의 개

종 소식 은 모든 형제들에게 큰 기쁨을 가져다주었는데, 이는, 곧 동료 신자들이나

기독교 신자들을 의미하며 이방인들의 개종이 유대인만이 아닌 모든 민족에게 구

원을 확대하겠다는 하나님의 약속을 이행한 것으로 보았기 때문이다.

 

4.When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the  church and

the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done

through them.

be welcomed:

환영을 받다.

God had done through them:

그들을 통해 행하신 주님의 일.

 

그들이 예루살렘에 왔을 때, 그들은 교회와 사도들과 장로들의 환영을 받았는데,

그들은 그들을 통해 하나님이 하신 모든 일을 보고했다.

 

5.Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees

stood up and said, "The Gentiles must be  circumcised and required to

obey the law of Moses. “

 

그러자 바리새파에 속한 몇 사람이 일어나 말하였다. 이방인들은 할례를 받아야

하며, 모세의 율법을 따라야 한다.라고

 

바리세파란?:

바리새파는 유대교의 종교적 지도자로서 큰 영향력을 행사했으며 그들은 회당

에서 가르치고, 종교적 의식을 주관했다. 이들은 모세의 율법을 철저히 지키는

것을 강조했다. 그러면서도 예수님과 자주 갈등을 빚는데 예수님은 바리새파의

외식과 위선을 비판하셨다.

 

해설: 외식(外飾)과 위선(僞善) hypocrisy와 hypocrite

외식은 겉으로 드러나는 행동이나 모습은 신앙적이거나 도덕적으로 보이지만,

실제 마음속의 동기는 다를 때를 말한다.

반면에 위선은 자기 자신을 윤리적이고 도덕적인 사람으로 보이려 하지만, 실제

행동은 그렇지 않은 것을 의미한다.

Ex: The problem that has been revealed is just the tip of the iceberg

Ex: He blamed his colleague for the mistake and threw him under the bus.

      그는 실수를 동료의 탓으로 돌리며 그를 희생양으로 삼았다.
