         오늘은 그 39번째로서 5장1절부터시작 함니다.

 

1.Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for a feast of  the Jews.

(후에 유대인의 명절이 되어 예수께서 예루살렘에 올라 갔다)

 

2.Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool,which in

Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is  surrounded by five covered

colonnades.

3.Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the  blind, the lame,

the paralyzed.

수많은 장애인들

Used to lie:

과거에 습관적으로 눞는다(누워 있곤 했다)

The blind, the lame, the paralyzed:

시각 장애인들, 절룸 바리들, 중풍 환자들

The rich, 부자들 The poor, 가난한 사람들,

(그 안에 많은 병자, 맹인, 다리 저는 사람, 중풍환자들이 누워있곤했다)

lame duck: 다리저는 오리- 임기 말에 격는 해이감. 정권 말기

에 나타남. 소위 “레임덕”

 

lame duck: 알고나 갑시다

정치에서 '레임덕'은 후임자가 이미 선출되었거나 곧 선출될 선출직공직자

를  말하며 이 공직자는 임기가 곧 끝나기 때문에 영향력이나 권력이 없는

경우이다 뿐만 아니라, 임기가 거의 끝났거나 약화된 위치에 있는 비효율적

이 거나 무력한 사람이나 단체를 지칭할수도있다 예를 들어, 재정적으로

어려움을 겪고 있어 곧인수될 회사를 레임덕이라고 부를 수 있다.

 

4.For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool,and troubled

the water: whosoever then first after the  troubling of the water stepped

in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

어떤 병이든 그가 가진 모든 것:

whatever 강조어로서 무엇이든지 간에

 

(이는 천사가 일쩡한때 못에 내려와 물을 움직이게 하는데 이때 움 직임에

제일먼저 들어가는 자는 어떤 병에 걸렸든지 모두낫게 된다)

 

해설: 먼저들어간 사람이 우선 ?

이 대목은 흔히 하나님의 치유력에 대한 비유로 해석되는데 경계심을 갖고

솔선수범하는 사람(즉, 가장 먼저 수영장에 들어가는 사람) 이 하나님의

치유를 받게 될 것임을 에시하는 것 같다.

 

Whatsoever:

He has no interest whatsoever in attending the meeting.

(그는 회의에 참석하는 데 전혀 관심이 없다)

There was no evidence whatsoever to support the claim.

(이 주장을 뒷받침할 증거가 전혀 없었다)

 

Whosoever:

Whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

(누구든지 그를 믿는 사람은 죽지 않고 영원한 생명을 가질 것이다)

Whosoever wishes to join the club must fill out an application  form.

(클럽에 가입하고자 하는 사람은 누구나 신청서를 작성해야 한다)

 

5.One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight  years.
