         오늘은 그 52번째 로서 6장16절부터 시작 함니다.

 

16.When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake,

When evening came:

저녁이 되어.

(날이 저물어 제자들이 호수에 내려가서)

 

17.where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for

Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet

joined them.

 

set off:

여행의 출발.

got into a boat:

boat에 타다

set off across the lake:

호수를 건너 출발하다 (set off 출발하다)

By now it was dark:

지금은 어두워 젔다 (해가 질 무렵)

had not yet joined them:

그들과 합류하지 않았다

had not +PP: 아직까지 ~하지 않았다.

(배를 타고 바다를 건너 가버나움으로 가는데 이미 어두웠고 예수 님은 아직

그들에게 오시지 아니 하셨다)

 

18.A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough.

A strong wind was blowing:

강한 바람이 불었다

the waters grew rough:

물결이 사나워 젔다

(큰 바람이 불며 파도가 사납게 일어 났다)

 

19.When they had rowed three or three and a half miles, they  saw Jesus

approaching the boat, walking on the water; and  they were terrified.

(and they were frightened.)

 

had rowed:

노를 저었다

three or three and a half miles:

3 마일 내지 3마일 반정도

walking on the water:

물위를 걷고 있다

they were terrified:

그들은 공포에 질렸다

He became terrified of fire after the accident.

그는 사고이후 병적으로 불에 대한 공포심이 생겼다.

I was terrified as the dog approached me.

개가 다가오자 두려움에 떨었다.

I held back, terrified of going into the dark room

난 어두운 방에 들어가기가 무서워 망설였다.

(제자들이 노를 저어 3, 3 1/2 마일쯤 가다가 예수께서 바다위를 걸어 배에

가까이 오심을 보고 두려워하였다)

 

해설: 바다위를 걸어 오시는 예수님

오천 명을 먹인 뒤 홀로 기도하러 가시고 제자들은 배를 타고 앞서보내는 때의 이야기

로서 강한 바람이 불기 시작하고 갈릴리 바다 의 물은 거칠어 지는데 제자들의 배를

향해 물 위를걸어 오시는 예수님과 거친 태풍속에서 귀신인 줄 알고 다들 놀라게 된다.

이에 예수님은 '나이니 두려워하지 말라'는 말씀으로 두려움을가라앉히는데 이 기적은

예수님의 신적 능력과 자연을 다스리는 능력을보여주셨다. 두려움과 불확실성 속에서

도 예수님에 대한 믿음과 신뢰는 이를 극복할수있다는 말이다.

 

20.But he said to them, "It is I; don't be afraid."

 

"It is I; don't be afraid.":

나다, 겁내지 말아라

(이르시되 나이니 두려워하지 말라 하셨다)
