그 자리에는 두아디라에서 온 루디아라는 자색 옷감 장수도 있었다.그녀는 하나
님을 섬기는 사람이었다. 주님은 그 여자의 마음을 열어 바울의 말에 귀를 기울이게
하셨다.
해설:
Hyatira의 Lydia는 신약성경에서 언급되는 여성으로, 유럽에서 최초 로 기독교 개종
자로 여겨진다. 자주색 옷의 판매자로 알려져 있다. 자주색 옷은 가치 있고 비쌌으며,
귀족이나 왕족의 상징이었다. 그녀의 직업은 그녀가 부유한 여성 사업가 이었을 가능
성이 높다.
하나님께의 예배는 리디아가 하나님을 믿는 유일신론자였음을 나타내고 있으며 주님
은 마음을 열어 바울의 말씀에 응답했다는 것은 리디아가 예수그리스도의 사도 중 한
명인 바울의 가르침을 잘 받아들였음을 말한다.
하나님을 섬기는(유대교) 사람이 바울의 말씀을 듣고 마음을 열고 기독교의 추종자가
되는 과정을 보여주며 그녀의 이야기는 기독교로개종한 최초의 유럽인으로 여겨지기
때문에 의미가 있다.
15.When she and the members of her household were baptized,she invited
us to her home. "If you consider me a believer in the Lord," she said, "come
and stay at my house." And she persuaded us.
